you had my curious about the answer there to that,
I found this on google:
http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2025553&tstart=60
Sounds like you have system 6
and you need an 800k boot floppy
that shift key command only worked on system 7 onwards

I had the 400 iMac DV SE, and I just put in a 500MHz w/ a better grphx card (was on the 500mhz mobo) and it runs like a charm. Just get the mobo off eBay and there ya go! ;)
so you brought the 500mzh motherboard and just stuck it in, and it worked fine cool

More than likely if I were to take it to the Apple store I'd have restored by then...which hopefully would alleviate the problem at that point.
My main point is, if I have no recourse in my current jailbroken state, what options are the best to restore yet not have to upgrade my firmware (aka losing the chance to jailbreak untethered)

Well... it WILL set a precedent and you will see apple going after jailbreakers... And they have MORE muscle than SONY.
Not true. The Library of Congress has certified jailbreaking of mobile telephone devices as LEGAL.
Perhaps the real push should be to get them to include console gaming devices? Too bad they only make changes every 3 (?) years to the registry I believe.

I just recently purchased the xion audio profile lp player which as a usb connector. I know its not professional level equipment.
I have been dabbling around with it and I have it connected to cd spin doctor. When its time to save the imported audio the following options are presented
aif/aiff
linear pcm, 8 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 16 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 24 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 32 bit big-endian signed integer
wav
linear pcm, 8 bit big-endian unsigned integer
linear pcm, 16 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 24 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 32 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 32 bit big-endian floating point
linear pcm, 64 bit big-endian floating point
u-law 2:1
a-law 2:1
apple mpeg4 audio
aac
mpeg4 high efficiency aac
mpeg4 low delay aac
apple lossless
After being imported the songs will be imported to itunes and played there and on an ipod.
so my questions are
Is audacity better than cd spin doctor for such a simple project
Is there a way to find out the quality of the audio that comes in on the usb cable from the vinyl player?
What format should the source files be saved in?
thanks in advance

According to the text...
9:18 am we're only talking about the mac today
I'm guessing that is supposed to be "NOT talking about the mac today"...
I wondered about that too, but ars also had that...

The first preview had a lot of major bugs. It may be near feature complete, but I agree that they need to spend time and ensure the IDE is stable before they make a GM.
They'll just use fix-it and ship it next week :)
XCode 3 is way old. It was released with Leopard. Since then, we've only really had minor revisions (3.1, 3.2) and very infrequent intervals (3.2 released with snow leopard). I would expect Apple have been working on this for a very long time already.
Many of those features (e.g. the static analyser, which came with 3.2) could very well have been the result of development done for XCode 4.
Since the product was announced which such fanfare at WWDC, I would imagine a release would happen in the next few months. Possibly with the iPad's OS4 update (predicted to be around late August/September).
EDIT: In case anybody was worried, XCode 4 by default installs in to its own folder (/Xcode4) and can co-exist with 3.X. It can open 3.X projects and does not "upgrade" them or make them incompatible with earlier versions.

wow, that's totall nuts - who'd a thought, non-expo overload.
yep, get more memory at least for the server, if the site gets this popular, you're going to need to upgrade.
maybe a little mention that the site needs a new server thread - donations accepted - i'd give $10.....
and now that the forums are only available to members, you're only going to increase membership - remember we got more than 1500 because of the lockdown on MWNY last week.
the site got 600+ members since the server fart alone - macrumors is off and running....
way to go arn!:D

Yes for each inbox you have, select it and issue form the menu Mailbox->Rebuild
You should rebuild mailboxes every so often. Especially after you have deleted a bunch of messages.

You need to make yourself a custom firmware first using pwnage tool. In pwnage tool select install cydia and select no baseband update.
http://blog.iphone-dev.org/
Then get redsn0w and put the phone in pwned DFU mode.
Then you can do a option key plus click the restore button in itunes, browse to the custom restore you made and start your restore.
When done the phone already has cydia loaded.

So here's my questions for all you Mac guys out there:
How is security on a Mac as opposed to a PC?
Pretty damn good. I rarely ever (I don't think I actually have) read about someone getting a virus on their Mac. I don't have any virus protection software and everything is running just fine on mine.
Is it easy to keep files and programs organized and easily accessible?
Very easy. Coming from a PC it takes a little getting used to in the fact that you can't just add an organization bar at the top (date of creation, time, date of modification, etc.) [Unless you can, if so, someone let me know :)] You also can't cut and paste, you have to either drag and drop or copy/paste then delete the original.
How is the "ease of use" for a Mac beginner? I wanna be able to get it and go! Just like with my iPhone.
Very easy. At a basic point it seems to be a little easier and more user friendly than a windows PC is. Everything is done a certain way and if you can wrap your head around it, it's very simple. HOwever you have keyboard commands which make Macs very efficient. The use of spaces also drastically improves this with the ability to have "unlimited" desktops, each of which you can switch to at any time.
And my number one priority, how dependable will my Mac be in 2,4,and 10 years down the line if I can't just go and get another one?
Very dependable. Of course if you're speaking spec wise, it depends on what you get now, although you can always upgrade the specs.
I'm using an 08 BlackBook right now and love it; 2.2ghz, 4 gigs of ram, and a 320gb hard drive. Amazingly fast and it never lags, allows me to run XP and 7 in a virtual window (within a program, not a separate OS) without much slowdown either.

Why don't you go to the website of the manufacturer and look for a driver for OS X? I'm assuming this is an HP, if it is, they have a bunch of drivers that sometimes have to be installed first.
