Are they doing the ads the same way the nytimes has been doing the ads?

Which hijack your screen every now and then for an ad -- before sending off to the link you clicked.

    I hate when that happens.
Or when something is flying on your screen, like a giant kite.
Those animated ads that hijack the screen are out of control!

I've got my alarm set for 450 right now but will probably end up staying up all night and just going whenever. I don't think it'll be that bad

The big idea is you will probably void your warranty doing the mods, and seeing as to how Macs need warranty these days, less obligations for Apple! :D

...but if you plan on using the external for extensive rendering and etc. then the D2 would be better.

I havn't had over heating problems on my LaCi Proche drive, and I have had it work hard for several hours at a time. Then again, it is on a glass table.

Well they eventually went on sale at midday in NZ (finally).

I ended up queuing up outside Vodafone in St Lukes Westfield Mall. I was the first in the line that began at around 11am with another guy (don't know the name sorry). Ended up being about 30-50 people by midday.

Got myself a nice 32GB on contract.

Well, let's wait until somone receives one and tells us exactly what chip it is.

If it a new G4, then it may better address DDR RAM. That, and the larger L2 cache, would be worth $500 to me.

However, whether you'll utilize the power is dependent on what you do. Try going to an Apple store, and using their machines with the processor monitor open. Run what you would normally run each day.

If you don't peg out both processors, then you don't need more machine. I always have 20 apps and 25 binaries running on top of the OS, so my processor is usually pegged at all times. I have a full load of RAM, and still get pageouts.

For users who are doing office type work (web, mail, Office, etc.) the Dual 867 should be more than enough. For those working with audio, Photoshop, compilers, or running 24/7 services, the Dual Gig should be fine. If you want to do some rendering, run A LOT of services, are a video junkie, or just need to be the fastest, get the Dual 1.25.

But don't buy anything until we hear some more about what's in the 1.25...

yes, i think the gold digger song is pretty lousy...

i think that the performances should try to be mainstream, lets the products speak for themselves, not your over-the-top artists

What I find interesting in that graph is that about 20% of iPad users are getting another device because "other tablets became available." Does that mean they're going to get a cheaper competing device as a second unit?

I've got the IceKey and like it. Much better than the "standard" Apple keyboard. The action is very "crisp". It's a bit like the keyboard of a Powerbook. I'd go with it. As I recall it wasn't that expensive either. Cheers

I was actually just going to ask pretty much the same question and am interested as well.

What I wanted to do was put Windows 7 along with OSX on my 240gb SSD while also partitioning my my 750gb HDD that I'll install in the optibay drive so one side is for Windows in NTFS and the other for OSX.

Possible within disc utilies, right? Sorry, I am a new Mac user =D

I just picked up a D-Link DI-524 802.11g router at Best Buy two days ago. Perhaps not the most feature-rich router out there, but there were 40 dollars in rebates, bringing the price to $20. At that price I figured I could make a foray into wireless networking in my house. So far it seems to be working well. It was very simple to set up, and it seems to provide reasonably good coverage. No problems yet!

Thanks for your votes folks! Congrats to all the winners! There were lots of great entries for this contest and I'm very pleased to have won. As xUKHCx knows, the blue ribbon is what everybody wants!

calderone, great entry. You have mad design skills. What a battle that was! If you ever make a keyboard with that button, sign me up for one.

It all depends. I liked the V600 better than the V400 for these reasons.

It was made out of Metal/Aluminium instead of plastic.
I seemed to be able to hear better on it. Although i think it was do mainly to ergonomics.
I liked the look and feel of it much better. To me the V400 was the beta, and the V600 was the final product.

I value style, and durability, so I went with the V600. Also, I had a V60 which I loved. Possibly the best phone I have ever owned, and the V600 remind me much of it. I'm sure was a big part of my decision.

And as for battery life, if I remember correctly it was about the same. No huge difference.

So I guess if your an average user, The V400 is a good fit.

BTW, I dont think Cingular sells the V600 anymore. I think they replaced it with a 500 series phone. Which is made out of plastic :(Well im using the samsung sgh-x427 non m model and i like it except for the fact that it will only hold 3 downloaded full audio ring tones which is freakin lame imo only 3!! I mean come on. Also its not a camera phone and the battery is less than satisfactory. I want a camera phone with great battery life, i do a lot of text meseging and on the phone all the time i want something that will last me at least 4 days without having to run to my life saving charger. Am i asking to much? ah well come on cingular the technology is there isnt it

    Get a Seagate.

Nice 5-year warranty and nearly dead silent.

I had four of them in my last PM.

The Maxtor in my PM sounds like a hamster on a wheel compared to my nice, quiet Seagate.

Sorry :p let's hope the 2009 and later macbooks don't start cracking on everybody:(

Yeah hopefully. It's definitely been a slower process than the previous generation MacBooks. And it probably doesn't help that I'm a college student who probably doesn't treat his computer as nice as he should :p

I remember having a similar problem back in the late 80s - I had a Commodore 64, which plugged into a PAL TV and had the British keyboard layout. When I first got a PC, it came with an American keyboard (as all PCs sold here do) and I had to get used to it.

Fast forward 15 years, put me in front of a British keyboard and my typing slows dramatically. So you'll get used to it.
